ZOOJ LEGAL
Terms of Use & User Agreement
Effective: September 11, 2026 · Version: 2026-09-11-v1
1. Parties and Acceptance
This User Agreement is between you and ZOOJ (“ZOOJ,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). You accept it by affirmatively checking the agreement box and submitting the registration form. Merely visiting a public page does not substitute for the registration clickwrap where affirmative acceptance is required.
You represent that you have read, understood, and voluntarily accepted this Agreement and the ZOOJ Safety Standards. If you do not agree, do not create or use an account.
2. Eligibility and Age
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a binding contract. You may not use ZOOJ if applicable law prohibits you from doing so, if we previously permanently banned you, or if you are creating an account for another person without lawful authority.
You are responsible for providing truthful, current, and materially complete registration and profile information. You may not impersonate another person, misrepresent your age, identity, marital status, location, intentions, or other material facts, or use another person’s photographs without authorization.
3. Nature of the Service; No Guarantee of a Match
ZOOJ is an online platform intended to help adults discover and communicate with other adults for relationship or marriage purposes. ZOOJ is not a spouse, matchmaker acting as your personal fiduciary, law-enforcement agency, emergency service, therapist, attorney, financial adviser, investigator, or guarantor of another member’s identity, statements, intentions, compatibility, character, safety, legality, or future conduct.
Unless ZOOJ expressly states that a particular verification was completed, you must not assume that a member has undergone a criminal, identity, employment, financial, marital-status, immigration, medical, or other background check. A verification feature may reduce some risks but cannot guarantee identity or safety.
ZOOJ does not guarantee that you will receive messages, matches, dates, marriage proposals, relationships, or any particular outcome.
4. Your Account and Credentials
You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for activity conducted through your account to the extent permitted by law. Do not sell, transfer, rent, lend, or share access to your account. Notify ZOOJ promptly if you reasonably believe your account has been compromised.
ZOOJ may require identity, location, security, or other verification where reasonably necessary to protect the service or its members. Attempting to bypass or falsify a verification mechanism is a violation of this Agreement.
5. Strict Member Conduct Rules
You may not use ZOOJ, directly or indirectly, to engage in conduct that is unlawful, deceptive, abusive, exploitative, dangerous, or inconsistent with the legitimate purpose of the service. Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation:
- harassment, stalking, threats, intimidation, coercion, blackmail, extortion, violence, or encouraging self-harm or harm to another person;
- sexual exploitation, non-consensual sexual content, trafficking, grooming, exploitation of minors, or any attempt to involve a person under 18 in the service;
- fraud, romance scams, investment scams, requests for money under false pretenses, money laundering, identity theft, phishing, or obtaining financial credentials;
- impersonation, catfishing, materially false profiles, forged documents, deceptive photographs, or concealing material facts for a fraudulent purpose;
- publishing another person’s private information, intimate material, address, financial information, credentials, or other sensitive information without lawful authority;
- hate-based abuse, unlawful discrimination, targeted degradation, or threats based on protected characteristics;
- spam, unauthorized advertising, recruitment schemes, pyramid schemes, commercial solicitation, or mass messaging;
- using ZOOJ to facilitate a crime or to plan, solicit, encourage, conceal, or carry out harm against another member or any third party;
- retaliating against a member for reporting conduct or cooperating with a safety investigation.
Conduct outside the ZOOJ platform may also result in enforcement when we reasonably determine that it is connected to ZOOJ, targets a ZOOJ member, presents a material safety risk to the community, or demonstrates misuse of the service.
6. Interactions With Other Members and Personal Safety
You are solely responsible for deciding whether, when, where, and how to communicate with or meet another member. Exercise independent judgment. Do not send money or financial credentials to someone merely because you met through ZOOJ. Use caution before disclosing your home address, workplace, phone number, immigration information, financial information, or other sensitive details.
For first meetings, consider a public place, your own transportation, telling a trusted person where you are going, and maintaining access to your phone. Leave or contact emergency services if you feel unsafe. ZOOJ’s Safety Standards contain additional guidance and mandatory rules.
ZOOJ cannot control what members do in person, on telephone calls, through third-party apps, or after leaving ZOOJ. Nothing in this Agreement excuses ZOOJ from a duty or liability that applicable law does not permit to be waived.
7. Reporting and Cooperation
You may report suspected fraud, threats, harassment, impersonation, security abuse, or other violations through available reporting mechanisms. Reports must be made in good faith. Knowingly filing false reports, fabricating evidence, or using reports to harass another person is prohibited.
ZOOJ may review reports, preserve relevant records, request additional information, restrict features during an investigation, and take proportionate protective action. We do not promise a particular outcome or disclose confidential investigative information merely because a report was submitted.
8. Suspension, Permanent Ban, and Loss of Access
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ZOOJ may warn, restrict, suspend, remove content from, terminate, or permanently ban an account when we reasonably determine that the member violated this Agreement, created a safety or fraud risk, attempted to harm another member, attacked or abused the service, evaded a prior ban, or when action is reasonably necessary to protect ZOOJ, its members, or third parties.
Serious misconduct may result in immediate action without prior warning. ZOOJ may prevent a banned person from creating replacement accounts and may use lawful technical measures to enforce a ban.
Where required by law, mandatory notices, appeal rights, refunds, or other consumer remedies remain available notwithstanding this section.
9. Premium Services, Charges, Cancellation, and Refunds
Any paid feature is subject to the price, billing period, renewal terms, and cancellation disclosures shown at purchase. If a paid account is terminated for fraud, abuse, threats, harm to another member, cyberattack, intentional evasion of safety controls, or another material breach, unused subscription value is non-refundable to the fullest extent permitted by law. This rule does not eliminate a refund, cancellation right, or other remedy that applicable law makes non-waivable.
If a purchase renews automatically, ZOOJ will provide the disclosures and cancellation mechanism required by applicable law. Terms displayed at checkout control transaction-specific pricing and billing details if they are consistent with this Agreement.
Important New York consumer notice
If New York social-referral-service law applies to your paid ZOOJ contract, statutory rights may include a right to cancel a covered contract without a cancellation fee within three business days after receipt of the contract, along with other mandatory rights. Those statutory rights are not waived by this Agreement. A separate Dating Service Consumer Bill of Rights and any required cancellation notice must be provided when applicable to a covered sale or renewal.
10. Moving and Service Availability
ZOOJ is intended to be an online service that may be available across multiple regions, subject to local availability and law. If you move to a place where ZOOJ does not provide the relevant service, contact ZOOJ regarding available account, cancellation, or hold options. Any mandatory rights applicable to a paid social-referral-service contract are preserved.
11. User Content
You retain ownership rights you have in content you submit. You grant ZOOJ a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, transmit, and otherwise process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, improve, and provide the service, comply with law, and enforce this Agreement.
You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit your content. You may not upload content that infringes intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or other rights. ZOOJ may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms or creates a material safety, legal, or security risk.
12. Cybersecurity and Prohibited Technical Activity
You may not probe, scan, exploit, interfere with, damage, overload, reverse engineer where prohibited, bypass, or attempt unauthorized access to ZOOJ or its systems. Prohibited activity includes SQL injection, XSS, malicious scripts, malware, credential attacks, automated scraping, unauthorized bots, denial-of-service activity, exploitation of vulnerabilities, bypassing rate limits or access controls, tampering with requests, or attempting to obtain another person’s account or private data.
Do not conduct security testing against production systems without ZOOJ’s prior written authorization. A claim that an attack was “testing” does not authorize it.
13. Security Monitoring and Evidence Preservation
To protect the service, ZOOJ may lawfully collect and analyze security-relevant technical information such as IP address, timestamps, user-agent information, request metadata, authentication events, suspected malicious input, and related server logs. ZOOJ may preserve evidence reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, enforce bans, defend legal claims, comply with law, or respond to valid legal process.
ZOOJ does not claim a right under this Agreement to secretly activate your camera, microphone, or screen-capture function. Any device permission that requires affirmative browser or operating-system consent remains subject to those controls and applicable law.
14. IP and Technical Blocking
Where reasonably necessary for security or abuse prevention and permitted by law, ZOOJ may block IP addresses, sessions, accounts, or other lawful technical indicators associated with malicious activity, ban evasion, fraud, or attacks. Because IP addresses can be shared or reassigned, technical blocking is a protective measure and is not by itself a determination of criminal wrongdoing.
15. Law Enforcement, Emergency, and Legal Process
ZOOJ may disclose or preserve information when required by valid legal process or applicable law, and may make reports to appropriate authorities where ZOOJ reasonably believes doing so is permitted and necessary to address suspected fraud, exploitation, credible threats, serious physical harm, cybercrime, or other unlawful activity. Nothing here promises that ZOOJ will monitor all conduct or act as an emergency service.
16. Intellectual Property and Platform Rights
ZOOJ’s software, branding, logos, interface, original text, design elements, and other proprietary materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for rights expressly granted to use the service, no ownership interest is transferred to you.
17. Third-Party Services
ZOOJ may interact with third-party services such as hosting, payment, mapping, email, analytics, or external links. Third parties may have their own terms and privacy practices. To the extent permitted by law, ZOOJ is not responsible for independent third-party acts or services outside ZOOJ’s control.
18. No Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ZOOJ IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” ZOOJ DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES TO THE EXTENT THEY MAY LAWFULLY BE DISCLAIMED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. ZOOJ DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE, ERROR-FREE, SECURE AGAINST EVERY POSSIBLE ATTACK, OR THAT MEMBERS WILL BE TRUTHFUL, COMPATIBLE, SAFE, OR SUITABLE.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions, so some of the foregoing may not apply to you.
19. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ZOOJ AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST OPPORTUNITIES, OR LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER MEMBERS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ZOOJ IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR INDEPENDENT WRONGFUL ACTS OF MEMBERS OR THIRD PARTIES THAT ZOOJ DID NOT DIRECT, AUTHORIZE, OR CONTROL. THIS INCLUDES, SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE LAW, FRAUD, MISREPRESENTATION, HARASSMENT, ASSAULT, THEFT, STALKING, EXTORTION, OR OTHER MISCONDUCT BY ANOTHER MEMBER.
Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including any liability or statutory consumer remedy that applicable law makes non-waivable. If applicable law requires a different liability rule, that law controls to the extent of the conflict.
20. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ZOOJ and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful conduct, your material breach of this Agreement, content you submit, your infringement of another person’s rights, or your intentional misuse of ZOOJ. This obligation does not require you to indemnify ZOOJ for liability that applicable law places on ZOOJ and does not permit to be shifted to you.
21. Privacy and Data Handling
ZOOJ will handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy law and its disclosed privacy practices. This Agreement does not authorize ZOOJ to ignore mandatory privacy, data-security, deletion, retention, or consumer rights.
Where a specific law requires deletion or destruction of information after termination of a covered service, ZOOJ will follow that requirement subject to lawful exceptions such as legally required retention or valid court orders.
22. Account Closure and Retained Records
Closing an account ends your right to use private account features. ZOOJ may retain limited records where reasonably necessary and legally permitted for fraud prevention, security, charge disputes, legal claims, regulatory obligations, enforcement of permanent bans, or valid legal process. Retention is subject to any overriding statutory deletion obligation.
23. Changes to This Agreement
ZOOJ may update this Agreement. Material changes will be presented in a manner reasonably designed to provide notice, and renewed affirmative consent will be obtained when required by law. The version accepted at registration is recorded for evidentiary purposes.
24. Governing Law and Disputes
Mandatory consumer-protection and other non-waivable laws applicable to you remain in effect. Until ZOOJ’s operating legal entity, principal business address, and launch jurisdictions are finalized and reviewed by counsel, this Agreement intentionally does not impose a mandatory arbitration clause, class-action waiver, or exclusive forum clause. Those provisions can materially affect legal rights and should not be inserted without jurisdiction-specific legal review.
25. Severability; No Waiver; Assignment; Entire Agreement
If a provision is held unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent or severed while the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted by law. Failure to enforce a provision once is not a waiver of future enforcement. You may not transfer your account or this Agreement without ZOOJ’s permission. ZOOJ may assign this Agreement in connection with a lawful restructuring, merger, acquisition, or transfer of the service, subject to applicable law.
This Agreement, the Safety Standards, transaction-specific purchase terms, and any other policy expressly incorporated at the point of acceptance form the agreement governing your use of ZOOJ, subject to mandatory law.
26. Contact and Legal Notices

Legal/cancellation contact: Contact ZOOJ through the Contact page
Where applicable law requires a particular cancellation form, statutory notice, address, email address, or other disclosure for a paid contract, the required transaction-specific notice will supplement this Agreement.
